Lent

Lent is a time of repentance, fasting and preparation for the coming of Easter. It is a time of self-examination and reflection.

Beginning on Ash Wednesday, Lent is a season of reflection and preparation before the celebrations of Easter. By observing the 40 days of Lent, Christians replicate Jesus Christ's sacrifice and withdrawal into the desert for 40 days. Lent is marked by fasting, both from food and festivities. Lent runs ends on Thursday, April 9.

Ash Wednesday Service- February 26 at 7 p.m.

Ash Wednesday emphasizes a dual encounter: we confront our own mortality and confess our sin before God within the community of faith. The form and content of the service focus on the dual themes of sin and death in the light of God's redeeming love in Jesus Christ. We are planning a traditional service including imposition of ashes.
